The Monster in My Mind
This is Gobbom, the main character of the short film which I will do this semester in animation class. He will get angry for about half a minute, which is all I want to tell you right now about the story. I was looking for a protagonist for some time and suddenly, this Monday morning, I remembered Gobbom, who I met the first time about two years ago. I knew he would be the best cast to get this job done.
This is a picture when we met the first time in Norway. Then he was my guide who showed me the beautiful landscape there. But, as much as he liked this job he always had something more in his mind. I remember as if it was yesterday when he said to me at the fireplace: »You know, Anatol, I could be more. I mean: everybody can be a monster. But I want more. I dont´t want to waste my whole life here, being a guide for tourists day in, day out. No. I´m gonna be a star! A STAR! ...« And he should be right. Although then I had no idea that it should be me who would give him the first role as a leading actor.
So two years later we met again after I called him one night. He was excited about the script and he absolutely wanted to play the main character. As he says »the story contains so much of the human nature, so much truth, so much pain, so much pathos.« In his mind he already is this big star. I fear that this conviction could go too much to his head, but I also feel that he´s a great actor, indeed. And he knows that I think this, which doesn´t make it more easy to work with him. Sometimes he also is a bit too moody for my taste, but actually that´s what I need him to be for the story. The picture above shows us on our way to the first shooting.

nächster Teil
Hallo Anatol.
Ich finde es toll, dass du unserem Norwegen-Führer zu seinem verdienten Ruhm als Filmstar verhelfen willst. Wurde ja auch mal Zeit, dass wer sein Talent entdeckt und - wer weiß? - vielleicht wird´s ja nächstes Jahr in Cannes was...

Dem letzten Satz allerdings "They are predatory but rarely attack humans." traue ich nicht so ganz...
Viele Grüße :)
