Australian East Coast - Part Three: The Whitsunday Islands
After Fraser Island we arrived at Airlie Beach. The next day we took a three-day sailing trip to the Whitsunday Islands. Last minute, we booked ten minutes before the ship should leave.
Australian East Coast - Part Four: Townsville
This is the lookout point of Townsville which was quite close to our backpacker hotel. Townsville was a short stop while travelling. We went to a nice aquarium there and to destroy the las little piece of hope to swim in the sea we watched the Imax movie 'Island Of The Sharks'. I fear stinger suits are not shark-resistant.
Australian East Coast - Part Five: Mission Beach
We stayed in Mission Beach for about one week. It was quite pleasant that - compared to most other parts of the east coast - tourism kept within limits.
Australian East Coast - Part Six: Innisfail Crocodile Farm
During our stay in Mission Beach we made a one day trip, hired a car and had a look at the area around. The first stop was the crocodile farm in Innisfail. Jurassic.
The first four ones are Emus, the last one is Tim.
Great Ocean Road - Day One: The Kangaroo Cliché
OK, here we are finally with this kangaroo cliché of Australia. We found the first ones on a golf course on the first day of our five day trip which lead us from Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road (to the Twelve Apostels) and to the inland to the Grampions National Park.
Great Ocean Road - Day Two: Sea, Rainforests and Waterfalls
The next day, after a nice evening on the camp site we followed the Great Ocean Road to see two waterfalls in a beautiful forest. The picture above shows Tim and the sea on our way there.
Great Ocean Road - Day Three: All Along the Watchtower
On the third day on the Great Ocean Road we stopped at a watchtower. Actually we wanted to go to another waterfall, the Rainbow Falls, but for some reason we didn´t find it, so we made our way a bit across country to a lonely beach. The water was still quite cool and yeees: the sun is quite sharp in Australia. Amateur travellers as we are we forgot the suncream in the car.
